Q. DO YOU OFFER CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS?

A. Yes, we offer beginner classes for adults and kids. No experience is required.

 

Q. HOW MANY TIMES PER WEEK DO I ATTEND?

A. We recommend a minimum of two classes per week. Many adults like to attend three or more classes per week.

 

Q. WHAT TIME ARE THE CLASSES?

A. We offer a variety of class times to meet individual needs. Ask about our schedule for more detail.

 

Q. AT WHAT AGE DO CHILDREN START CLASSES?

A. Our Lil Dragon program begins at 3 years old. Our children's martial arts program begins at 5 years old.

 

Q. WHAT DO I WEAR FOR MY FIRST CLASS?

A. For your trial class, we recommend sweats and a T-shirt.

 

Q. HOW IS RIDGEWOOD KARATE ACADEMY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SCHOOLS?

A.  Our dedicated and professional instructors, who have at least 10 years of experience, provide a family environment to encourage the development of every individual at the school.  We offer a unique and unparalleled curriculum that improves fitness, develops self-defense skills, and promotes personal development.

 

Q. HOW IS RKA KICKBOXING DIFFERENT FROM CARDIO KICKBOXING AT A GYM?

A. RKA instructors are highly trained professionals with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the martial arts, teaching authentic and effective Kickboxing techniques that will really work if you ever need them. Many cardio kickboxing instructors have little to no actual martial arts experience and are merely aerobic instructors.

 

Q. HOW MANY CALORIES CAN I BURN IN AN HOUR?

A. While we estimate you will burn about 1000 calories in a 1-hour class, many of our students have measured over 1200 calories burned in a one-hour class using their own fitness bands.

 

Q. HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST CLASS?

A. No preparation is needed. Just wear comfortable workout clothes and show up, our instructors will handle the rest!

 

Q. WHAT TYPE OF CLASSES DO YOU OFFER?

A. We offer beginner-level classes for all age groups as well as intermediate and advanced-level classes in kickboxing, grappling, and close-range defense.

 

Q. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I START CLASSES?

A. You don't need any previous experience. Just show up in some comfortable workout clothes and our professional staff and instructors will make sure you have a great workout and learn a skill that will change your life!

 

Q. DO I HAVE TO COMPETE?

A. No, competition is not required. For those students interested, we do offer the opportunity to compete in different types of events.
