Donatello TMNT

Updated: Nov 10

Superhero Donatello, often known as Don or Donnie/Donny, is one of the four central figures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books and all associated media.  Donning a purple mask over his eyes, he is the most intelligent and compassionate of his brothers. In all mediums, his major signature weapon is a bō staff, which he wields.

Donatello TMNT | His Brothers

He is the brother of Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo and the adopted, mutant son of Master Splinter. As the team's second-in-command, he is the turtle that is the most sensible and logical. Donatello frequently uses technobabble in his speech and has a natural knack for science and technology. Of the four turtles, his ninja skills are the worst since he prioritizes technology over fighting prowess. Similar to each brother.

 Donatello TMNT | Marvel Comics

Donatello is portrayed as the most collected turtle in the comics. Although the squad isn't officially commanded in the comics, he is shown as Leonardo's closest sibling and the team's next in charge in the earlier storylines. He is the one who killed the Shredder in the first issue by toppling him and his grenade from the roof. The second issue began with Donatello soldering a circuit and went into further detail about each turtle's personality. Later on in the issue, Donatello assists April O'Neil in deactivating the Mousers, claiming to be "familiar with some computer systems". Donatello develops an obsession with maintaining and mending the numerous damaged items in the farmhouse the turtles were living in during their banishment to Northampton.

Donatello TMNT One Shot

In the Donatello one-shot, Donatello meets Kirby, an artist whose enigmatic crystal gives his pictures life before vanishing, as a tribute to comic book artist Jack Kirby. The heroes are aided in defeating the invading monsters by the two newly formed friends as they travel to a dimension inhabited by Kirby's creations.

Donatello TMNT Shades of Grey Storyline

Casey Jones meets the turtle alongside a ravine while thinking about "the fractal structure of natural patterns" in the Shades of Grey plot. Casey says the turtle acts superior to everyone else and uses fancy language. Donatello says that after Casey gets sober, they should talk more. Taking out a stick, a furious Jones prods the turtle repeatedly until he snaps and throws Casey flying into the ocean.

Donatello TMNT | City at War Storyline

The turtles return to New York in the City at War plot to stop the Foot Clan's civil war. In the aftermath of the Second Time Around Shop, Donatello suffers a broken leg after falling through the floor during a fight with Shredder's Elite Guards. Donatello takes hold of one of the Foot's machine guns and starts firing at the Foot Elite after noticing that their ally Karai has been restrained and is on the verge of death. Donatello tosses the rifle aside after becoming obviously shaken by the bloodshed. By the time the story comes to a close, April, Casey, and the turtles have returned to New York, but Donatello has decided to stay in Northampton with Master Splinter in order to recuperate from his wound and process everything that has transpired.

Donatello TMNT | Modern Comics

In today's comics, Donatello discovers an armored truck in the sewers that was presumably used in a bank heist back in the 1960s. He takes on the job of repairing the car with Raphael and Casey Jones. Donatello makes the decision to travel to Tepui with the Utroms in order to look for two research teams that have gone missing. Strange wooden creatures assault the gang, shredding them into tiny pieces. The creatures reveal themselves to be a group of Utroms who, during their initial visit on Earth, got lost in the jungle and were able to live in secret because to their ability to change their size with a technology called a Quantum Inversion Redimensioning. Donatello was unable to undergo the process again, perhaps as a result of his mutation.
