Martial Arts NJ - The martial arts has a long history in New Jersey. Often noted in hit classic movies such as The Karate Kid, where the main character La Russo is from Newark New Jersey. In the storyline La Russo moves to California from New Jersey. He meets Danny Lawrence and gets bullied.

Martial Arts NJ | The Karate Kid

The Karate Kid is an American martial arts drama film from 1984 that was directed by John G. Avildsen and written by Robert Mark Kamen. Starring Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue, and William Zabka, it is the first entry in the Karate Kid series. The Karate Kid recounts the narrative of Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), an Italian-American adolescent from New Jersey who goes with his widowed mother to the Reseda district of Los Angeles. Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), the ex-boyfriend of LaRusso's romantic interest, Ali Mills (Shue), is one of the new bullies that harass him there. Mr. Miyagi (Morita), a war veteran and handyman, teaches LaRusso karate so that he can protect himself and fight his bullies in a karate tournament.

The RKA mission has been to positively impact our community since 1996! We encourage a familial atmosphere in which families and students join our larger family. We foster a good environment, make enduring connections, support involvement in the community, and encourage success and accomplishment. Our goal is to produce whole marital artists in an enjoyable and secure setting.

Our system combines a contemporary teaching methodology with traditional martial arts. Every week, students attend lessons tailored to their age group and skill level. We offer programs for children as young as three years old as well as for teenagers and adults. The conditioning programs are also provided by us.

ECAL Martial Arts, led by Ed Chang and Arnold Lau, acquired Ridgewood Karate Academy in 2016. Ed Chang and Arnold Lau, the new owners of RKA, aim to carry on the family martial arts history. ECAL Martial Arts will offer the assistance required to introduce RKA to the upcoming generation of martial artists by utilizing their operational knowledge from fitness and gym investments as well as their commercial experience as senior executives at an investment bank. To support RKA's objectives, a large portion of the leadership team has also remained with the organization.
